Mentha oil prices gained Rs 7 to Rs 1,139.50 per kg in futures trade today on the back of a pick-up in spot market demand, mainly from pharmaceutical units.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, August contract gained Rs 7, or 0.62%, to Rs 1,139.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 400 lots.

September delivery moved up by Rs 6.40, or 0.56%, to Rs 1,150.10 per kg in 135 lots.

Market analysts said a pick-up in demand from pharmaceutical units against low arrivals from producing regions led to the rise in mentha oil prices in futures trade.
