Mentha oil futures prices tumbled 4 per cent to hit a lower limit at Rs 1,136.90 per kg today, on continued profit taking by speculators amid weak domestic and exports demand.

Adequate stocks at spot markets, following pick up in arrivals from producing regions, also put pressure on mentha futures prices.

All the three running contracts, November, December and January hit daily lower limits of four per cent, set by the exchange authorities.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, Mentha oil for November delivery tumbled by Rs 47.40, or 4 per cent, to Rs 1,136.90 per kg.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in December contract plunged by Rs 48.40, or 4 per cent to Rs 1,160.70 per kg, while January contract traded lower by Rs 49, or 4 per cent to Rs 1,175.90 per kg.

Market experts said continued profit booking by speculators due to steep fall in domestic and exports demand, against increased arrivals led to fall in mentha oil futures prices.
