Mentha oil futures prices rose up by Rs 21 to Rs 879 per kg in today as traders created fresh positions, driven by pick up in demand at the spot market.
Increasing demand from exporters and pharmaceutical units also influenced trading sentiments in mentha oil futures.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in May gained by Rs 21, or 2.44%, to Rs 879 per kg, with trading volume of 50 lots, while July delivery rose by Rs 7.90, or 0.91%, to Rs 872 per kg, with a business turnover of 169 lots.
The oil for June delivery traded higher by Rs 7.70, or 0.88%, to Rs 874.80 per kg, with a business turnover of 190 lots.
Analysts said fresh buying by traders following pick up in spot demand and lower arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly pushed up mentha oil futures prices.
Increasing export and pharmaceutical Industries demand further supported the uptrend, they added.
