Mentha oil prices rose by Rs 13.40 to Rs 932 per kg in futures trade today as traders created fresh positions, driven by pick-up in spot market demand.

Market analysts said increasing export and domestic demand from pharmaceutical industries kept mentha oil prices up in the futures market.

Restricted arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh further pushed up the prices, they added.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in May gained Rs 13.40, or 1.45% to Rs 932 per kg, with trading volume of 119 lots.

Likewise, its prices for delivery in June advanced by Rs 10.50, or 1.18% to Rs 898 per kg, with a business turnover of 57 lots.

The oil for July delivery also rose by Rs 8.20, or 0.92% to Rs 894 per kg, with a trade volume of 18 lots.
