Mentha oil prices rose further by Rs 31.40 to Rs 1,133.30 per kg in futures trade today, as traders created fresh positions, driven by a pick up in demand at the spot market due to rising domestic and export demand against low stocks.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for delivery in April month rose by Rs 31.40, or 2.84 per cent to Rs 1,133.30 per kg in a business volume of 369 lots, while May contract was up by Rs 10.30, or 1.06 per cent, to Rs 977.50 per kg, with a trading volume of 122 lots.
Similarly, the oil for March contract surged Rs 13, or 1.04%, to Rs 1,261 per kg, with a business volume of 344 lots.
Market analysts said fresh positions created by speculators, supported by pick up in domestic and export demand, pushed up mentha oil futures prices.
