Buoyed by a pick-up in demand from consuming industries in the spot market, mentha oil prices rose by Rs 4.10 to Rs 1,128 per kg in futures trade today.

In addition, restricted arrivals from producing regions supported the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, August delivery rose by Rs 4.10, or 0.36%, to Rs 1,128 per kg, with a business turnover of 83 lots.

The September contract rose by Rs 2.70, or 0.24%, to Rs 1,147 per kg, with a trading volume of 199 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in mentha oil futures prices to fresh buying by traders, driven by a pick-up in demand from pharmaceutical units amid lower arrivals from Chandousi, in Uttar Pradesh.
