Mentha oil futures prices gained Rs 8.10 to Rs 1,238.40 per kg today, as traders created fresh positions, driven by a pick up in demand at spot markets due to increasing export and domestic demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for delivery in December rose by Rs 8.10, or 0.66 per cent to Rs 1,238.40 per kg, while January contract was up by Rs 6.60, or 0.53 per cent to Rs 1,249.90 per kg.

Market analysts said fresh positions created by speculators, supported by pick up in domestic and export demand, pushed up mentha oil futures prices.

Besides, reports of fall in production also influenced prices, they said.
