Mentha oil futures prices rose by Rs 4.20 to Rs 1,301.80 per kg today, as traders enlarged their holdings tracking the rising demand in the physical markets.

Restricted supply from the growing belts of Chandausi, in Uttar Pradesh, which also supported the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in December rose by Rs 4.20, or 0.32%, to Rs 1,301.80 per kg, clocking a business volume of 702 lots.

The oil for February month contract higher by Rs 3.50, or 0.27%, to Rs 1,285 per kg, with a trading volume of 12 lots, while January delivery edged up by Rs 3.40, or 0.26%, to Rs 1,293.40 per kg in 76 lots.

Analysts said fresh buying by traders following pick-up in spot demand and lower arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly pushed up mentha oil prices at futures trade.

Increasing domestic and export demand from pharma industries kept trend firm for mentha oil in the spot and the futures market, they added.
