Mentha oil prices gained Rs 2.60 to Rs 731 per kg in futures trading today on fresh buying by speculators, driven by pick up in demand in the spot market.

Restricted arrivals from producing regions also influenced the trading sentiment.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for September month rose by Rs 2.60, or 0.36 per cent, to Rs 731 per kg with an open interest of 3,467 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in August month traded higher by Rs 1.80, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 719 in business volume of 4,868 lots.

Marketmen said fresh buying by speculators followed by pick up in demand in the spot market, against restricted supplies from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh mainly led to rise in mentha oil prices at the futures market.
