Mentha oil futures surge 3%, hit upper circuit

Continuing its winning streak, mentha oil futures prices shot up by Rs 38.40, or 3 per cent to Rs 1,319.30 per kg today on the back of tight supplies amid rising domestic and export demand.

In addition, reports of a fall in production also influenced the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for December-month delivery rose by Rs 38.40, or three per cent, to hit the upper circuit at Rs 1,319.30 per kg, with a trading volume of 669 lots.

The oil for delivery in November also up by Rs 34.90, or 2.76 per cent, to Rs 1,298 per kg, with a business volume of 1,924 lots, while January-month contract inched up by Rs 10.70, or 0.82 per cent, to Rs 1,303.10 per kg, with a trading volume of 48 lots. 
Traders said apart from tight supply, rising domestic and export demand, mainly pushed up the prices of mentha oil at the futures market.
