Mentha oil prices rose by Rs 4.60 to Rs 964 per kg in futures trading today as traders created fresh positions driven by pick-up in domestic as well as export demand.

Increased offtake by pharmaceutical units further fuelled the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in May contract rose by Rs 4.60, or 0.48% to Rs 964 per kg in single lot.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in April contract moved up by Rs 2.70, or 0.26%, to Rs 1,058 per kg, with a trade volume of just one lot.

Market analysts said fresh positions created by speculators on the back of pick up in domestic and export demand led to rise in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
