Mentha oil futures prices moved up by Rs 6.70 to Rs 1,114 per kg today as speculators enlarged their positions, supported by rising demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for February delivery moved up by Rs 6.70, or Rs 1,114 per kg, with a business turnover of just two lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in March gained Rs 5.30, or 0.48 per cent, to Rs 1,112.60 per kg, with a business volume of just two lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in mentha oil futures prices to rising demand in the spot market, against restricted arrivals from producing regions.

Increased offtake by pharmaceutical units also influenced the trading sentiment to some extent, they said.
