Mentha oil futures continued to trade higher by adding Rs 17.60, or 1.73 per cent, to Rs 1,030.50 per kg trade today due to strong demand in spot markets.

Strong buying fuelled by receding arrivals in major markets of Uttar Pradesh (UP) accompanied with follow-up buying, pushed up mentha oil futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for October delivery rose by Rs 17.60, or 1.73 per cent, to Rs 1,030.50 per kg, with a trading volume of 1,636 lots.

The oil for delivery in November was up by Rs 17.50 or 1.70 per cent to Rs 1,045.70 per kg, with a business volume of 1,325 lots, while December-month contract inched up by Rs 17, or 1.64 per cent, to Rs 1,051.50 per kg, with a trading volume of 378 lots.

Traders said strong demand in the spot market, mainly pushed up the prices of mentha oil at the futures market.

They said less arrivals from Chandousi in UP also influenced the trading sentiment to some extent.
