Mentha oil prices traded higher by Rs 2 to Rs 1,050 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions on the back of rising demand from pharmaceutical industries.

Restricted arrivals from producing region further supported the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in May gained Rs 2, or 0.18% to Rs 1,050 per kg, with an open interest of a single lot.

Market analysts said fresh buying by traders, following pick-up in spot demand against lower arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh, led to the rise in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
