Mentha oil prices rose by Rs 7.80 to Rs 874.90 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by a pick-up in spot demand.

Less arrivals in the physical market further fueled the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha for delivery in July rose by Rs 7.80, or 0.90%, to Rs 874.90 per kg, with a business turnover of 310 lots. Likewise, the oil for delivery in June gained Rs 6, or 0.70%, to Rs 865.20 per kg in 129 lots.

Market analysts said fresh buying by speculators on pick-up in demand from pharmaceutical units mainly led to the rise in mentha oil prices at futures trade.

They said restricted arrivals from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh also supported the uptrend.
