Buoyed by a firm trend at the spot market on pick up in demand from pharmaceutical units, mentha oil prices moved up by Rs 7.30 to Rs 1,240 per kg in the futures market today.

Restricted arrivals from producing regions also supported the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, October mentha oil rose by Rs 7.30, or 0.59 per cent to Rs 1,240 per kg in business turnover of 235 lots.

The September contract gained Rs 4.70, or 0.46 per cent to Rs 1,231 per kg in 735 lots.

Market analysts said besides pick up in demand from pharmaceutical units, restricted arrivals from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh mainly led to the rise in mentha oil prices in the futures trade.
