Mentha oil futures fell by Rs 4.80 to Rs 865 per kg in futures trade today as traders indulged in profit-booking at existing higher prices amid a fall in demand in the spot market.

The fall in mentha oil prices was mostly due to profit-booking by speculators amid a fall in demand in the spot market, traders said.

Increased arrivals in the spot market from producing belts in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on mentha futures.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for October contract delivery declined by Rs 4.80, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 865 per kg in a business volume of 676 lots.

Similarly, mentha oil futures for November delivery eased by Rs 4.60, or 0.52 per cent, to Rs 876.30 per kg, with a business turnover of 182 lots. Mentha futures for December contract delivery fell by Rs 3.90, or 0.43 per cent, to Rs 887.20 per kg in 48 lots.
