Mentha oil gains 1.33% on rising demand

Tight supplies in physical market following less arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh add to pressure on the commodity

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Mentha oil prices rose 1.33 per cent to Rs 884.70 per kg in futures market today as speculators enlarged their positions, supported by a rising demand from consuming industries in the spot market.

Tight supplies in the physical market following less arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on mentha oil.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in December rose by Rs 11.60, or 1.33 per cent, to Rs 884.70 per kg in business turnover of 610 lots.

The January contract traded higher by Rs 10.80, or 1.22 per cent, to Rs 896.10 per kg in 43 lots.

However, November mentha oil declined by Rs 5.40, or 0.62 per cent to Rs 858.90 per kg in 337 lots.

Analysts said increased positions created by speculators, supported by a rising demand from consuming industries in the spot market against tight supplies from producing regions, mainly led to rise in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
