Mentha oil prices marginally up by Rs 2.90, or 0.41 per cent, at Rs 701.80 per kg in futures trade today on short covering by speculators, driven by pick up in demand at spot markets.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for July contract gained by Rs 2.90, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 701.80 per kg, with a trading volume of 179 lots, while August contract edged up by Rs 2.60, or 0.35 per cent, to Rs 726.30 per kg, with a trading volume of 64 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in September contract traded higher by Rs 2.10, or 0.28 per cent, to Rs 733.20 per kg, with a trading volume of 41 lots.

Marketmen said short covering by speculators, followed by pick up in demand, against weak supplies in the spot market mainly pushed up the prices at futures.
