Mentha oil prices gained Rs 1.80 to Rs 1,315 per kg in futures trade today on fresh buying by speculators amid rising  pharmaceutical industrial demand.

Restricted arrivals from the main producing area of Chandausi, in Uttar Pradesh, also supported the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, January mentha oil rose by Rs 1.80, or 0.14%, to Rs 1,315 per kg, with an open interest for 200 lots.

The December contract gained Rs 1.60, or 0.12%, to Rs 1,300 per kg in 54 lots.

Market analysts said a pick-up in demand from pharmaceutical units in the spot market amid restricted arrivals from Chandausi mainly helped mentha oil futures trade higher.
