Mentha oil prices fell further by Rs 15.40 to Rs 1,324.50 per kg in futures trading today on continued profit-bookings by speculators amid a weak trend at the spot market on sluggish demand.

Expectations of higher production estimates in the current year also influenced mentha oil prices.

At the MCX, mentha oil for delivery in June fell by Rs 15.40, or 1.15%, to Rs 1,324.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 425 lots.

The July contract declined by Rs 15.30, or 1.13%, to Rs 1,343.10 per kg, with a business turnover of 196 lots.

Market analysts said continued profit-booking by speculators on the back of a weak spot markets trend on subdued domestic and export demand mainly kept pressure on mentha oil prices at futures market.
