Mentha prices fell by Rs 12.30 or 1.60 per cent to Rs 758 per kg in futures market today, as traders booked profits at existing higher prices due to fall in demand at spot markets.

Lower trend at producing centres in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for June-month contract fell by Rs 12.30, or 1.60 per cent to Rs 758 per kg, with an open interest of 2,901 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in July contract lost Rs 10.30, or 1.33 per cent to Rs 766.80 per kg, with a business volume of 2,205 lots.

Traders said fall in mentha oil prices was due to profit booking by speculators amid sluggish demand in spot markets.
