Mentha oil futures prices fell further by Rs 8.20 to Rs 1,219 per kg today, as speculators booked profits at existing high levels, amid fall in spot demand.

Increased arrivals from producing belts in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on the mentha oil futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, September mentha oil declined by Rs 8.20, or 0.66%, to Rs 1,219 per kg, with a business volume of 356 lots.

The October contract eased by Rs 8, or 0.64%, to Rs 1,224.50 per kg, with a trade turnover of 139 lots, while prices for November contract fell by Rs 7.50, or 0.60%, to Rs 1,227 per kg, with an open interest of seven lots.

The fall in mentha oil prices was mostly due to profit-taking by speculators due to fall in demand in the spot market, traders said.
