Mentha oil prices rose by Rs 29.80 to Rs 1,419 per kg in futures trade today as traders created fresh positions supported by a pick up in demand at spot markets.

Restricted supplies from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh also influenced the mentha oil prices at futures trade.

At the MCX, the June delivery gained by Rs 29.80, or 2.14%, to Rs 1,419 per kg, with a trading volume of 255 lots.

The May delivery rose by Rs 25.60, or 1.82%, to Rs 1,430 per kg, with a business turnover of 434 lots.

Marketmen said fresh buying by traders following rising spot demand and lower arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly pushed up mentha oil prices at futures trade.
