Mentha oil rises 3% on pick-up in spot demand

Mentha oil futures rose by Rs 66.60 to Rs 2,286.60 per kg today as traders created fresh positions, driven by pick-up in spot demand.

The sentiment improved further due to tight stocks positions in the physical market on account of less arrivals from producing area of Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the April mentha oil gained Rs 66.60, or 3%, to Rs 2,286.60 per kg, with a trading volume of 301 lots.

The March delivery also higher by Rs 55.80, or 2.56%, to Rs 2,230 per kg, with a business turnover of 464 lots.

Marketmen said a firming trend at the spot markets amid restricted supplies from producing regions, mainly influenced mentha oil prices at futures trade here.
