Mentha oil prices rose for the fifth straight day by adding Rs 25.30 to Rs 1,468.60 per kg in futures trade today on speculators buying on rising domestic and export demand.

Besides, reports of lower output this season also influenced prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, December mentha oil rose by Rs 25.30, or 1.75%, to Rs 1,468.60 per kg, clocking a business volume of 2,109 lots.

The January contract traded higher by Rs 24.50, or 1.68%, to Rs 1,481 per kg, with a trading volume of 625 lots.

Analysts said pick-up in export and domestic demand and lower arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly pushed up mentha oil prices at futures trade.
