Mentha oil prices shot up by Rs 27 to Rs 1,186 per kg in futures trade today, supported by increased demand from pharmaceutical units in the spot market against restricted arrivals.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, October mentha oil shot up by Rs 27, or 2.33%, to Rs 1,186 per kg, with a business turnover of 155 lots.

The September contract jumped up by Rs 26.60, or 2.31%, to Rs 1,176.60 per kg in 155 lots.

Market analysts said increased demand from pharmaceutical units and other consuming industries against restricted arrivals from the major producing area of Chandousi, in Uttar Pradesh, mainly influenced mentha oil prices in futures trade today.
