Mentha oil prices rose by Rs 13.40 to Rs 1,211 per kg in futures trade today as traders created fresh positions on account of good demand from pharmaceutical units against lower arrivals from key mentha producing regions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the October contract for mentha oil gained 13.40, or 1.11%, to Rs 1,211 per kg, with a trading volume of 720 lots.

The September contract rose by Rs 13.10, or 1.10%, to Rs 1,195.80 per kg, with a trading volume of 662 lots.

Marketmen said a firming trend in the spot market on the back of a pick-up in demand and lower arrivals from the main producing region of Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly pushed up mentha oil prices in futures trade.
