Mentha oil futures prices fell by Rs 9.10, or 1.20 per cent, to Rs 751.20 per kg, in futures trade today as traders indulged in profit-booking amid fall in demand in the spot market.

Increased arrivals in the spot market from the producing belts in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on the prices.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for July-month contract declined by Rs 9.10, or 1.20 per cent, to Rs 751.20 per kg, clocking a business volume of 423 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in June contract eased by Rs 8.70, or 1.16 per cent, to Rs 739.60 per kg, with a business turnover of 216 lots, while August contract fell by Rs 7.70, or 0.98 per cent, to Rs 778.70 per kg.

Market analysts said the fall in mentha oil prices was due to profit-taking by speculators due to fall in demand in the spot market, traders said.
