Mentha oil prices moved up by three% to Rs 916 per kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions driven by rising spot demand from pharmaceutical units.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in July surged by Rs 26.50, or 3%, to Rs 916 per kg in business turnover of 524 lots.

The June contract rose by Rs 26.30, or 2.99%, to Rs 904.50, with trade volume of 44 lots.

Market analysts said increased buying by speculators following rising spot demand and less arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh helped an upsurge in mentha oil prices at futures trade.
