Mentha oil prices traded lower by Rs 1.70, or 0.23 per cent, to Rs 735 per kg in futures trade today as speculators indulged in profit-booking amid fall in spot market demand.

Increased arrivals at the spot market from producing belt of Uttar Pradesh also influenced the trading sentiment.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for October month declined by Rs 1.70, or 0.23 per cent, to Rs 735 per kg with an open interest of 78 lots.

Similarly, oil for delivery in August month traded lower by Rs 0.80, or 0.11 per cent, to Rs 715.30 per kg in 4,925 lots.

Market analysts said the fall in mentha oil prices came due to profit-taking by speculators due to poor demand at the spot market.
