Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 13.70 to Rs 1,106 per kg in futures trade today, as traders indulged in profit-booking, driven by subdued spot market demand.
Increased arrivals and fall in demand in the physical markets kept the trend weak.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in December month contract declined by Rs 13.70 or 1.22 cent to Rs 1,106 per kg in a business volume of 800 lots.
Similarly, delivery in January month contract eased by Rs 12.60 or 1.11 per cent to Rs 1,121.30 per kg, in a business turnover of 598 lots, while February month contract fell by Rs 10.90 or 0.95 per cent to Rs 1,131.40 per kg in 100 lots.
The fall in mentha oil prices was mostly due to profit-booking by speculators and weak trend at spot market on subdued demand, traders said.
They said higher arrivals and fall in demand in the spot market mainly put pressure on the oil prices.
