Mentha oil prices fell by Rs 10 or 1.29 per cent to Rs 765.60 per kg in futures market today, as traders booked profits at existing higher prices amid fall in demand in spot markets.

Lower trend at producing centres in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on the prices.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in June contract declined by Rs 10, or 1.29 per cent to Rs 765.60 per kg, with a trading volume of 532 lots.

The oil for delivery in July contract dropped by Rs 9.50, or 1.21 per cent to Rs 772.90 per kg, with a business turnover of 300 lots, while August contract also eased by Rs 8.60 or 1.08 per cent to Rs 791.30 per kg in 70 lots.

Traders said fall in mentha oil prices was due to profit booking by speculators amid less demand in the spot markets.
