Mentha oil futures prices today moved up by Rs 5.60 to Rs 1,346 per kg as speculators created fresh positions, supported by the rise in demand in the spot market from pharmaceutical units.

Less arrivals from the producing area of Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh also influenced mentha oil futures.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in August moved up by Rs 5.60, or 0.42%, to Rs 1,346 per kg in a business turnover of 236 lots.

The September contract edged up by Rs 4.90, or 0.36%, to Rs 1,366.30 per kg in business turnover of 27 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in mentha oil futures to the pick up in demand from pharmaceutical units in the spot market against less arrivals from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh.
