Mentha oil prices rose by Rs 9.80 to Rs 1,364.80 per kg in futures trade today as traders created fresh positions, on good demand from pharma units and lower arrivals from producing regions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for September delivery gained 9.80, or 0.72%, to Rs 1,364.80 per kg, with a trading volume of 113 lots.

The October contract rose by Rs 8.30, or 0.67%, to Rs 1,383.70 per kg in eight lots.

Marketmen said a firming trend in the spot market on the back of a pick up in demand and lower arrivals from the main producing region of Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh pushed up mentha oil prices in futures trade.
