Mentha oil prices rose by Rs 23 to Rs 1,261.70 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by strong demand from pharmaceutical units in the spot market.
Tight supplies from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh also influenced the mentha oil prices at futures trade, traders said.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in July moved up by Rs 23, or 1.86%, to Rs 1,261.70 per kg, with a business turnover of 617 lots.
The August contract traded higher by Rs 21.10, or 1.66%, to Rs 1,281.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 67 lots.
