Mentha oil up on exports, domestic demand

Increased exports demand amid reports of lower production this season also supported the uptrend

Mentha oil prices gained Rs 14.90 to Rs 1,188 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions following pick-up in spot demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, the October contract mentha oil gained Rs 14.90, or 1.27%, to Rs 1,188 per kg, with a business volume of 793 lots.

The November contract rose by Rs 14.30, or 1.20%, to Rs 1,202 per kg, with a trading volume of 125 lots.

Marketmen said fresh positions created by by speculators following pick-up in spot markets demand and lower arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh, mainly pushed up mentha oil prices at futures trade.
