Mentha oil prices moved up by Rs 8.60 to Rs 1,000 per kg in futures trade today as traders created fresh positions, driven by pick-up in demand at spot markets.

Also, restricted arrivals in the physical market influenced mentha oil futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in May gained by Rs 8.60, or 0.86%, to Rs 1,000 per kg with a trading volume of 42 lots.

Mentha oil for delivery in April edged up by Rs 5.50, or 0.52%, to Rs 1,053.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 235 lots. Similarly, the oil for delivery in June rose by Rs 1.40, or 0.15%, to Rs 882.20 per kg, with a business turnover of 35 lots.

Market analysts said fresh buying by traders following pick-up in spot demand along with lower arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh mainly pushed up mentha oil prices at futures trade.
