Mentha oil up on strong export, spot demand

Lower arrivals from producing belts push Jan and Feb prices up by 0.5% and 0.4% respectively

Mentha oil futures prices rose by Rs 6.90, to Rs 1,400.50 per kg today, largely on domestic and exports demand, amid reports of lower output this season.

The sentiment improved as traders created fresh positions on account of strong demand from consuming industries and less arrivals from major producing area of Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh, analysts said.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in January rose by Rs 6.90, or 0.49 per cent, to Rs 1,400.50 per kg, clocking a business volume of 453 lots.

The February contract traded higher by Rs 5.60, or 0.39 per cent, to Rs 1,415 per kg, with a trading volume of 46 lots.
