Mentha oil prices rose by Rs 12.30 to Rs 1196.80 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, driven by strong domestic as well as export demand.

Reports of lower production this season due to late rains in growing regions supported the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in November rose by Rs 12.30, or 1.04%, to Rs 1,196.80 per kg, with a business turnover of 494 lots.

The December contract moved up by Rs 12.30, or 1.03%, to Rs 1,211.30 per kg, with a business turnover of 89 lots.

Marketmen said besides strong domestic and export demand, reports of lower output this season following late rains influenced the mentha oil prices at futures trade.
