Mentha oil fell by Rs 19.50 to Rs 1,265.50 per kg in futures trade today, as traders indulged in profit-booking existing at higher prices amid fall in demand in the spot market.

Increased arrivals from producing belts in Uttar Pradesh also put pressure on the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, mentha oil for December contract declined by Rs 19.50, or 1.51 per cent, to Rs 1,265.50 per kg, with a business volume of 195 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in November contract eased by Rs 19.10, or 1.51 per cent, to Rs 1,244.90 per kg, with a business turnover of 801 lots, while January contract fell by Rs 12 or 0.92 per cent, to Rs 1,290 per kg in 60 lots.
The fall in mentha oil prices was mostly due to profit-taking by speculators amid fall in demand in the spot market, traders said.
