Mentha oil prices weakened by Rs 4.20 to Rs 1219.40 per kg in futures trade today as speculators offloaded their positions on the back of sluggish demand from pharmaceutical units against adequate positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in July declined by Rs 4.20, or 0.34%, to Rs 1,219.40 per kg in business turnover of 177 lots.

The August contract traded lower by Rs 3.80, or 0.31%, to Rs 1,238.70 per kg in 18 lots.

The fall in mentha futures prices was mostly due to sluggish demand from pharmaceutical units against adequate stocks availability in the physical markets, analysts said.
