Mentha oil prices gained Rs 6.60 or 0.91 per cent to Rs 728 per kg in futures trading today, as traders enlarged their positions, driven by good demand at spot markets.

Restricted arrivals from the producing regions also influenced the trading sentiment. At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha for June contract gained Rs 6.60, or 0.91 per cent to Rs 728 per kg, with an open interest of 2,026 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in August contract traded higher by Rs 6.50, or 0.86 per cent to Rs 762 per kg, with a business turnover of 1,241 lots.

Marketmen said pick up in spot demand against less arrivals from Chandausi in Uttar Pradesh, a major producing centre, mainly led to a rise in mentha prices at futures market here.
