Mentha traded marginally lower by 0.05 per cent to Rs 756 per kg in futures trading today owing to sluggish demand against fresh arrivals.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha for August month contract lost Rs 0.40, or 0.05 per cent to Rs 756 per kg with an open interest of 1415 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in July contract shed Rs 0.20, or 0.03 per cent to Rs 730.40 per kg in 3,091 lots.

Traders attributed fall in mentha oil prices to sluggish spot demand and increased arrivals from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh, a major mentha producing centre, which also put pressure on the prices.
