Shares in the small- and mid-cap segments were on fire on Tuesday, with one of the gauges posting its biggest single-day jump in nearly five months. The Nifty Smallcap 100 soared 3.9 per cent, the most since October 10, while the Nifty Midcap 100 rose 2.4 per cent, the highest since December 12.
