Midcap, small cap indices continue to outshine Sensex

Both the Midcap index and the small cap indices continue to out perform the Sensex even for this week.

The Midcap index advanced 105 points or 1.5% to 7,050 as compared to 0.7% each.

Among the Midcap stocks, Among the list of gainers Engineers India zoomed 34% to Rs 2,080. KGN Industries, HMT, Dish TV, Gujarat Fluorochemicals, Sterlite and National Fertilisers increased 18-22% each.

United Breweries Holdings was the top loser on the BSE, dropped 7% to Rs 281. It was followed by Balrampur Chini and IFCI, down 6% each at Rs 134 and Rs 5 respectively.

Prakash Industries, United Phosphorus and Educomp Solutions shed 5% each.

The Small cap index even outperformed the broader index, soared 3% to 8,970.

Bharti Shipyard and ABG Shipyard were the top gainers on the Small cap indices, sky-rocketed 38% each.The other prominent gainers included Sonata Software, Andhra Cement, Murli Indusrties, Ramco Industries, up 20-30% each.

Media One was the major dragger on the index, down 20% at Rs 107. Subex, Geekay Financials, Money Matters, Jai Balaji Industries and Dhampur Sugars declined 10-16% each.
