The Sensex has has rebounded into the green owing to sustained strength in capital goods. The BSE midcap and the smallcap indices are up 0.5% and 1%, respectively.
The Sensex is now at 16,824, down 11 points. The NSE Nifty is nine points down at 5,050.
Among the Sensex-30 stocks, Tata Power, Tata Motors and Sterlite Industries have slipped 2% each to Rs 1,294, Rs 775 and Rs 689, respectively.
ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, Hindalco Industries, Mahindra & Mahindra are down over 1% each.
While Larsen & Toubro has gained 2.5% at Rs 1,645. It is followed by Grasim Industries, Wipro, Reliance Communications, Reliance Infrastrcuture and Bharti Airtel have added 1% each.
The market breadth has improved, out of 2,617 shares traded, 1,637 have advanced and 865 have declined so far on the BSE.
Among the sectoral indices, metal, bankex and realty indices are down 1% each on the BSE while consumer durables has added 2%, respectively.
