The stocks of companies engaged in the petroleum and crude products business lost had a mixed run between December 2004 and February 17, 2005, on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
 
BPCL rose from Rs 399.60 on December 1, to today's close of Rs 442.00, up 10.6 per cent on the BSE.
 
The IBP share increased from Rs 543.45 to Rs 580.15. Indian Oil Corp rose from Rs 445.20 to Rs 478.55 and HPCL from Rs 342.90 to Rs 355.55.
 
MRPL gained from Rs 44.95 to Rrs 51.15 and Petronet LNG from Rs 23.15 to Rs 43.35.
 
Refiners lost value.
 
During the same period, the stock price of Bongaigaon Refinery declined from Rs 96.05 to Rs 87.20, down by 9.2 per cent.
 
Kochi Refineries declined from Rs 213.40 to Rs 191.20, down 10.4 per cent.
 
Chennai Petro shares fell from Rs 239.85 to Rs 220.25. ONGC shed value, from Rs 813.30 to Rs 808.55.
