Mixed response to tea sale

There was mixed response to tea in the sale held here on October 30 and 31 in which a quantity of 1,451,241 kg of teas were offered.

In the Orthodox Leaf market, the market once again met with very weak demand with the whole leaf grades being substantially outlisted with a select few invoices selling lower by Rs 8-10. The brokens also declined substantially and once again suffered withdrawals. The secondaries were lower by Rs 5-7.

Very sluggish demand was witnessed this week in the CTC leaf market with the brighter liquoring teas declining by Rs 5 - Rs 6 with a quantum of teas being out-listed due to want of bids.

 

Medium Teas sold at levels easier by Rs 6-7 with a fair amount of withdrawals.

Medium and plainer Teas saw subdued demand with the bulk of the teas remaining unsold without bids.

In the orthodox dust market,select Primary dusts met with subdued demand at substantially lower levels while the leafy secondaries and fannings were also lower by Rs 5-7.

Very poor demand was witnessed in the CTC dust market with the brighter liquoring teas declining by Rs 6-8 with a quantum of teas remaining unsold.The better medium and medium varieties declined substantially. Plainer teas also declined substantially and suffered withdrawals.
