A mixed trend developed in the wholesale kirana market today, as select spices rose on increased demand against paucity of stocks, while a few others lacked necessary buying support and declined.
Traders said, pick up in demand against less arrivals helped select wholesale spice prices to rise. Soanf-bold prices gained the most by rising Rs 500 to Rs 9,500-14,500 per quintal.
Cardamom brown-Jhundiwali and Kanchicut were up by Rs 5 each to Rs 555-560 and Rs 600-645 per kg on fresh buying.
Cardamom small varieties such as chitridar, colour robin, bold and extra-bold varieties remained in demand and strengthened by Rs 20 each to Rs 1,080-1,170, Rs 1,185-1,210, Rs 1,215-1,230 and Rs 1,285-1,310 per kg, respectively.
On the other hand, kalaunji and jeera common and best quality lost Rs 100 each to Rs 8,500-9,400, Rs 12,100-12,400 and Rs 13,500-14,100 per quintal, respectively.
